En \( (\mathbb{R},d_e) \), si \( A\subset \mathbb{R} \) es un subconjunto propio abierto y cerrado, entonces la función \( f:\mathbb{R}\to \mathbb{R} \) dada por \begin{align*}f(x)=\begin{cases}1 & \text{si} & x\in A\\ -1 &\text{si}& x\notin A\end{cases}\end{align*} sería continua y toma valores positivos y negativos pero no se anula.
Mi pregunta es por qué \( f \) es continua.
